How to Destroy the Woke State
The left loves to redefine words. Woman, racist, white supremacy, healthcare, democracy, extremist, far-right, and terrorist are just a few words that don't have the same meaning that they had only a few years ago. There are dozens of examples of this. All of it done in an effort to twist reality, to make right wrong and wrong right.
As conservatives, we do not need to redefine words and make up new words in order to make our case. But we can take a lesson from the left in all of this, and that is that definitions are important.
Websters-Mirriam defines religion as:
: the service and worship of God or the supernatural
This is the definition most commonly referenced. But the dictionary also defines religion as:
: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
Which is exactly what Wokeism is today. It is a cause held to with ardor and faith. It is a cause that demands allegiance at all costs. It is a cause that restricts religious liberty and uses intimidation to create new converts (in a way that has never been seen before). It will go to any lengths to force men and women to bow down at its altar. To bow down at the altar of a movement not based on scientific evidence but on feelings.
It is, unfortunately, a religion that has infiltrated all aspects of our government. State colleges and universities require pledges to this religion, with DEI statements. Public libraries proudly display rainbow and Black Lives Matter flags. The FBI is weaponized against parents who speak out against the presence of this religion in public schools. If Wokeism were accurately classified as a religion, all these things would become illegal. That's why we, as conservatives, should be hitting the applicable definition of religion over and over again.
: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
The key to destroying the woke state is ultimately to get the courts to classify Wokeism as a religion. While some critics would argue that it isn't a religion because it doesn't worship a specific deity or have an official church. We can quickly disregard this argument over the fact that atheism has neither of those things and is classified as a religion in the U.S. court system.
The separation of the Church of Wokeism and the state needs to be at the forefront of the conservative movement. We must shout this point from the rooftops. We must push it repeatedly the same way they do on the left. The difference being that we don't redefine religion but simply focus on a more accurate definition already in place. Ultimately, we all know deep down that this is far bigger than a fight between liberals and conservatives. This is not about people, politics, or even culture. This is a war between principalities (Ephesians 6:12).
This should be a central talking point and issue at the forefront of the 2024 presidential campaign. Because until the majority of culture admits that Wokeism is a religion, then this anti-Christian, racist, sexist, heterophobic religion will continue its tyrannical grip on our government and country.
All are free to practice the religion they choose. Those who believe in Wokeism will always be free to worship at its altar privately. But by law, the Church of Wokeism must be separate from the state. Promoting it in public schools, libraries, and public television stations clearly violates the protections granted us in the 1st amendment.
